Cover Girl - Clean Make up in Natural Ivory

Posted by Rica at 12:45 AM 0 comments

I used to love this liquid foundation from Cover Girl. As you have known, Cover Girl cosmetics are not available here in Hong Kong. I have to order them straight from USA if I really, really wanted to buy Cover Girl stuffs, or, I have to ask my sister to buy it for me there.

Lately, I found some Cover Girl stuffs at Bonjour (another cosmetic store like Sasa here in Hong Kong) so I grabbed 3 bottles of these Cover Girl Clean Make Up. It's in my shade, which is in Natural Ivory.

I really don't know what happened. I used to like this liquid foundation before, but when I tried using it once more, I didn't like it. It was too watery and very hard to apply to my face. It's very hard to even out.

Also, the coverage wasn't good. I still need to use a lot of concealer (my MAC Select Cover-Up) to have the flawless skin look.

Also, it doesn't stay that long. You have to retouch from time to time because it does wears off very fast.

One more minus points for this is the unsanitized bottle that Cover Girl used for this liquid foundation. It's very messy and I need to clean up the mouth of the bottle from time to time or else, it gets stuck up right there on top.

Honestly, I really don't like it now. I'm just finishing these stocks I've got at home right now, and I'm done. I don't want to buy this product from Cover Girl anymore.

Maybelline - Angel Fit Two Way Cake Foundation

Posted by Rica at 12:18 AM 0 comments

This is my all-time favorite powdered foundation. Why?! Well, first of all, this is very cheap. The compact and the powder just cost around HKD 100 and can be bought everywhere here in Hong Kong. From Watson's, to Mannings, to Sasa. Everywhere! And if you already got the compact, the powder refill is even cheaper! It just cost HKD 45 I think (as far as I can remember), each.

It is very light weight when used and also, the coverage is good. Plus, it doesn't wear off easily into my very oily / combination skin. I am a NC30 / NC35 on MAC and my color for this foundation is OC-2. It's also perfect for my skin color.

I would never EVER travel out of the country without my Maybelline Angelfit Powder Foundation!

H&M Bronzing Powder

Posted by Rica at 11:56 PM 0 comments

A bronzer is one of my make-up staples that I cannot live without. It's that important to my everyday life whenever I go out because no bronzer and no blush means a white and pale Rica. Yes. That's true. I look pale whenever I don't apply a bronzer and a blush. I can still remember one time, I went to work withouth my blush on because I'm feeling lazy on that day. One of my colleagues asked if I was feeling ok because I look so pale and I look sick. That was so embarassing! I told her that I am feeling ok, I just didn't put my blush on that day. Ever since that incident, I never, EVER leave the house without my blush on... LOL!

Anyway, I bought this blush for just one reason. IT WAS ON SALE. Yes, it was a part of their Crazy Winter Sale last 2009. It was 50% off the tag and I bought it for only HKD 20 at H&M. And believe me, it's a huge compact bronzer. The biggest on my make-up kit.
I love this bronzer because even though it was waaaay cheap, it didn't give me any break-out. Plus, the color is perfect for my skin color. With this on makes my face having that sun-kissed glow before applying my blush for that day.

I hope I can get it on sale the next time around! Better, better, better stock up! Haha!

Chanel - Chance

I love, love, love this perfume! The first time I smelled this perfume was from a friend of mine here in Hong Kong. I asked her, "What's your perfume?! It has a good, good scent!" Hell yeah it does. It's one of those perfumes that has a signature scent that cannot be mistaken into some other perfume brands out there.

The only problem with this is that it's a bit pricey. I think I bought mine for HKD 950 at Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui. Well, it's worth it anyway since I got really, really addicted to its scent! I would definitely, definitely buy this perfume over and over and over again!

Benefit - Miss Popularity - Precision Highlighter for Eyes and Face

Posted by Rica at 11:48 PM 0 comments

At first, I really don't know how to use this highlighter. I got this from my sister's package from USA for me. It was just stocked up inside my make-up kit for quite some time. Then, I started using it. And I love it! It's actually a quick fix for those lazy days that you don't feel like making an extra effort with putting on your eyeshadows. This highlighter is glittery and you can apply it to your eye areas with just your fingers. It's in powdery form making it easier to apply on. Also, even though it comes in a small package, it takes a long time to finish because you just need to use a little everytime. For me, I just apply 2 dots per eye every time. Imagine how long it would take for me to finish the whole bottle? Well, that's a good thing, because I do not want to run out of this from Benefit! :)

MAC - Select Cover-Up in NC35

Posted by Rica at 11:42 PM 0 comments

My holy grail concealer! I found this accidentally in fact. My sister left one tube of this a year before in NC30, I believe. I tried using it since I don't have any concealer left at that time. I started using it and I love it! It works for me. I started learning how to apply on concealers and how to achieve a more beautiful and flawless skin look. One more plus points for this concealer is that it's cheap! It only cost HKD 140, compare to other concealers out there.
Since I have a lot of lines and small dots on my face, a concealer is a must-have for me. It does a good coverage, and stays on my face for the whole day long!

This is actually a staple for me! I recently bought it on my own skin color, which is in NC35. I love it!

MAC 188 - Small Duo Fibre Face Brush

Posted by Rica at 11:19 PM 0 comments

This was supposed to be my blush brush. My original plan was to buy MAC 187 but since it was out of stock, I bought MAC 188 instead. When I got home, I tried it on, well, it was too small to be a blush brush for me. Instead, this became a bronzer brush for me. I'm the typical girl that only use one brush for specific kind. For this, I ONLY use my MAC 188 for my bronzers. It's perfect for applying bronzers since you don't really need to put on a lot of bronzer to your face. The end of the bristles are very light, making it easier to control how much bronzer I wanted to put on. Also, since it is smaller than the usual blush brush, it's easier to contour over my t-zone and easier to apply to small areas where I need to put more bronzer.

MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage

Posted by Rica at 11:14 PM 0 comments

MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage became a part of my everyday life ever since I bought it. My sister told me to buy this for my primer to keep my make-up in place and prevents it from wearing off. F.Y.I... This is the very first time I ever bought a primer! I don't even know what a primer is before! LOL! Call me dumb, but I know little about make-ups and I'm starting to learn now... At the age of 25! LOL! It's better to be late.. Than never, right?!

We bought this for HKD 200 for 30 mL at MAC store in Elements last December.

Anyway, this is a very good primer, I must say. It keeps my make-up longer and since I'm a lazy re-toucher, a primer is a very important stuff for me. The longer, the better. I would give this a 4 out of 5. Why? Well, It does keep my make-up longer, but not long enough to last for the whole day. All in all, I'm very well pleased with MAC's primers!

ZA Wide Eyes Mascara - Comb-Type Brush in Black

Posted by Rica at 11:08 PM 0 comments

This is one of my staple mascaras. Believe it or not, for a special ocassion, I'm applying hmmm... let's see... 4 different mascaras in 4 layers... The first would be the Majolica Majorca base mascara, then the Fiberwig Mascara, Majolica Majorca Lash Expander and the finishing would be the ZA Wide Eyes Mascara.

I can't really remember how much I bought this since I've been using this for a few months already... All I can remember is that it's around HKD 70-ish... I got mine from Sasa, but it can also be bought at some Watson's Personal Stores all over Hong Kong.

I love this mascara because after applying the MM Lash Expander to make my lashes really long and looking velvet black, this ZA Wide Eyes Mascara would give my lashes the volume. It would really make my lashes the look like I got some fake lashes on because of the very long length it gives. Well, hands down to ZA for this!

MAC 194 Concealer Brush

Posted by Rica at 11:41 AM 0 comments

I bought this brush as a concealer brush. I didn't like it because the bristles are too long, and for me, it was hard to control. I'm used to what my sister bought me a few months ago, a Smashbox Travel Size Foundation brush as my concealer brush because it's just small, easy to control and the bristles are shorter.

The brush is already reserved for a friend, willing to let it go since I'm not using it anyway. It's going to be a waste if I'm just going to keep it as a collection.

Naris Up Wink Up Maxigrade Eyeliner in Black and PLUS PLUS PLUS for today!

Posted by Rica at 4:07 PM 0 comments

I bought this as a finishing for my "smoky-eye" look with just using gel eye liners. I use this as a finishing to the tips that the brush of my gel liner cannot reach. I bought this over Sasa Cosmetics for HKD 60? I think? I don't really remember how much I got it...

All in all, it was ok, but I think there's a lot more better ones out there in the market today...

Anyway, I got my sister's package today and finally, I got my HG Foundation! My Cle De Peau Cream Foundation! Yay! My sister bought it in USA and it's perfect! It is sold for HKD 800+ here in Hong Kong. Quite expensive, I know, for a foundation. Argh! So.. I better stock up when my sister goes on a vacation here this coming summer! (I hope so!)

Also, my sister gave me some hand-me-down stuffs today. A powder foundation from Body Shop, and some lip liners from Pierre Cardin!

Wow! Not bad for today!

Lavshuca Color Control Base in OR-1

Posted by Rica at 9:45 PM 0 comments

I must say, I kinda like this primer. In Asia, primers are called "make-up base" instead, which is kinda confusing.. Isn't it?! Anyway, I got this Lavshuca Color Control Base in OR-1 a few days ago from Watson's Personal Store.

My first impression was, errrr... Why is the tube small?! I was kinda disappointed when I saw how "small" the tube is. But when I tried it on instead of using my MAC Prep + Prime Skin, I like it! I don't need to put TONS on my face, a small dot would do. Also, it's very light when applied on your face, and the orangey color of the make-up base that I chose makes my cheeks a bit rosy and has a glowy effect!

Not bad for a HKD 85 drug-store brand product!

Instant Haul For Today?!

Posted by Rica at 9:25 PM 0 comments

Whoa... Today, I received 2 packages from my MUA on swap! The first item on swap was my NARS orgasm powder blush. I didn't like it because it's too shimmery for me and not suitable for my skin type. I put it up for swap over MUA and a lovely MUAer messaged me if I'm interested to swap it with her Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. Since I was planning to purchase one for myself, I gave it a try and here it is with me here in Hong Kong! :)

The second item up for swap is another NARS blush in Luster. Same reason, why I put it up for swap. I swapped it with a MAC Lipstick in Angel together with an eye brush set from Essence of Beauty which can only be purchased in U.K. Not to mention the tons of extras I got from the swap!

I also got it today and well.. I must say, I'm pretty impressed and I love it!

As an addition to the haul that I got today, I went to Watson's Personal Store today and got myself a Lavshuca Powder Blush in PK-1. I haven't tried it on so I cannot write any reviews on it yet. I will write one as soon as I try it on.

Well, that's it for now!

Estee Lauder - Blush All Day

Posted by Rica at 9:42 PM 0 comments

This is my all time favorite powder blush! As you have known, I have a combination of oily and dry skin, so creme blush is not really my type. I sticked to powder blushes ever since, and not to mention that I am a blush girl. I can't go out of the house without any blush on my face. I look so pale without any blush. Once, I went to work without a blush, my colleague at work asked me if I'm sick and feeling ok because I look pale and different on that day. LOL! I told her, "Oh! I'm ok... I just forgot to put on my blush..." Ever since that day, I never leave the house without any blush.

I love using this Estee Lauder Blush All Day. It is very silky, does not irritate my skin, and not to mention the brush and the compact is perfect! I know that this product is already discontinued by Estee Lauder, that's why I have to stock up a lot every time they pop out of Ebay from time to time. Anyway, here are the colors for your reference of what I have right now...
