Estee Lauder Lash Primer Plus Review

Posted by Rica at 7:56 PM 0 comments

I've been using this mascara primer for a month now and so I decided to make a review of it.

What this primer mascara claims (from the Estee Lauder website) :

*Doubles lash volume.
*Curles and sets lashes.
* Boosts the special effects of mascara and extends its wear.
*Acts like a magnet to attract and hold mascara, so less is needed.
*Stays in place, providing the perfect beginning for magnificent lashes. Conditions to help prevent breakage.

Formula:

As a primer mascara, this product did not really get my heart. I was quite disappointed because even though it doesn't or minor clumps are experienced while on the process of putting on your mascara of the day, it's a bit hard to put on and customize its shape. It's very hard to make your lashes follow to any direction you like.

On the other side, I've been using this mascara every night and yes! It conditions my lashes. In fact, it made my lashes longer than before and I am loving every bit of my lashes' look right now!

Brush:

The brush is a medium size brush, nothing really big to love nor to hate. The only thing that bothers me with this brush is that whenever it touches my skin or my eye area, it hurts a lot. Its brushes are not soft, but rather spiky.

Packaging and Price:

Packaging is nothing special, just the normal patent that Estee Lauder has with the mascaras. Dark Blue packaging with gold rings.

Despite all of these, it's still worth trying for just spending HKD 150.

Will I Buy This Again?

No. My heart belongs to my Giorgio Armani Soft Lash Primer and the Lancome XL Cils Booster Primer.

MAC - Strobe Cream

Posted by Rica at 10:21 PM 0 comments

I got this as a freebie when I bought my MAC Blush Ombres from the Spring Colour Forecast last April. I find MAC quite generous when it comes to samplers because this sampler that I got right here is 30 mL in size. Imagine, 30 mL in size! I bought Benefit's That Gal before and it's just around 20 mL? or 10? I can't remember, but this one is even more!

Anyway, let's continue with the review. As the Sales Assistant from MAC told me, this is like a primer. Use this after your skin care routine, before your foundation. And so, I did. It's in a cream form, in pearly white color, with a very good scent. One thing that turned me off is that it's very sticky when applied into my face. As you guys have known, Hong Kong is a very hot and humid place whenever it's summer time. Best advice for makeup lovers?! Go light. Light on makeups. And this primer from MAC? Well, I can feel that it's very thick when it's applied on my face. About the staying power of this, I think it's ok... I retouch on a whole-day out I think once or twice only (I have a very oily-combination skin). But I love Lavshuca's makeup bases better than this one.

Good thing I just got this as a freebie! I don't think I would buy this for myself. But nothing beats my Benefit - That Gal love. hehe!

Benefit - That Gal

Posted by Rica at 6:55 PM 0 comments

This is my HG primer! I read a lot of good comments about this product PLUS my sister told me good stuffs about this primer that's why I bought it. I got this from Sephora for HKD 280 (as far as I can remember). Take note: Sephora stopped operation here in Hong Kong last April 06, 2010, so you can just buy this wonderful product at Benefit counters all over Hong Kong instead.

First, I love the smell of this product. It has this floral bubbly gummy smell that I really, really love. My sister told me before that this primer would actually let your skin have a "glowy-blushy" effect when used, but that does not apply for me. But hey, this primer is non-sticky and dries fast compare to other primer. As soon as I finished applying it on, I can apply my liquid / cream foundation right away with no worries. :)

About the staying power, the staying power is great as it is! I can last the whole day without retouching (maybe one or two ocassionally but very seldom) which makes it my HG primer! Also, my makeup stays in place, doesn't go sticky the whole day and non-oily.

It also comes in a girly packaging. Instead of the squeeze tube, it comes in a twirl container that makes it very unique from the others. I would keep this primer in stock always for my everyday use! :)

Lavshuca - Skin Filter Base

Posted by Rica at 1:04 PM 0 comments

I got this primer / base for HKD 65 at Watson's Personal Store. It comes in a small white 25mL bottle / container. It claims it is "A makeup base which evens out the tone color of your face and covers all imperfections for better enhancement of your foundation."

For my own experience, well, I don't think there's any difference of this from the normal makeup bases / primers. I think it does even out the tone color of my face, but it does not cover ALL of my skin imperfections.

It is also in liquidy form, making it a negative for me. As I have mentioned in my previous blogs, I don't like anything that is liquidy because it's very hard to control compare to if it's creamy. This liquidy makeup base also comes only in one color, a beigy one, which fits my skin color perfectly. The small white bottle container is very messy.

About the staying power of this makeup base? Well, I need to retouch everytime making it a big no-no for me as well. I think I'm going to give this a pass. I'm really not that impressed with this makeup base / primer from Lavshuca.

Majolica Majorca - Mascara Base

Posted by Rica at 12:14 AM 0 comments

I never put on any mascara without a base to start with. Majolica Majorca's Mascaras were my very first favorite mascaras. I started using them a year ago and still am right now. I love how they give volume and length to my eyelashes without putting on any artificial stuffs.

Anyway, I use this as a starter before I put on the mascara that I want to use for the day. The thing that I love about this product from Majolica Majorca is that its brush. It makes it easier to reach the deep ends of your eyelashes, and easier to make it longer.

Here's a close up on its brush (sorry, I don't have macro lenses for my cam to zoom it up clearly..)

Also, I got the old version of this product. I saw on someone's review online that it was revised by Shiseido and has fibers now. I wonder what good does it make... Anyway, I'm loving it. I use two HG Mascara Bases.. And this is one of them. Another hands down for Majolica Majorca!

MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage

Posted by Rica at 11:14 PM 0 comments

MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage became a part of my everyday life ever since I bought it. My sister told me to buy this for my primer to keep my make-up in place and prevents it from wearing off. F.Y.I... This is the very first time I ever bought a primer! I don't even know what a primer is before! LOL! Call me dumb, but I know little about make-ups and I'm starting to learn now... At the age of 25! LOL! It's better to be late.. Than never, right?!

We bought this for HKD 200 for 30 mL at MAC store in Elements last December.

Anyway, this is a very good primer, I must say. It keeps my make-up longer and since I'm a lazy re-toucher, a primer is a very important stuff for me. The longer, the better. I would give this a 4 out of 5. Why? Well, It does keep my make-up longer, but not long enough to last for the whole day. All in all, I'm very well pleased with MAC's primers!

Lavshuca Color Control Base in OR-1

Posted by Rica at 9:45 PM 0 comments

I must say, I kinda like this primer. In Asia, primers are called "make-up base" instead, which is kinda confusing.. Isn't it?! Anyway, I got this Lavshuca Color Control Base in OR-1 a few days ago from Watson's Personal Store.

My first impression was, errrr... Why is the tube small?! I was kinda disappointed when I saw how "small" the tube is. But when I tried it on instead of using my MAC Prep + Prime Skin, I like it! I don't need to put TONS on my face, a small dot would do. Also, it's very light when applied on your face, and the orangey color of the make-up base that I chose makes my cheeks a bit rosy and has a glowy effect!

Not bad for a HKD 85 drug-store brand product!
