Everyday Minerals - Kaolin Sunlight Finishing Powder

Posted by Rica at 9:29 PM 0 comments

This is the crappiest of all finishing powder that I've ever used. I got this from a fellow MUAer through a swap in a small, small container. In fact, this is just a freebie to be precise.

Anyway, to start off, Star to Finish Sunlight Kaolin Finishing Powder's color is a bit light for my skin color. Whenever I put this as a finishing, my face looks so white after than usual. Plus, it is very hard to blend. It doesn't really blend into my face. Its texture is very rough and bigger brittles than the usual powder. In fact, its texture is more like "flour."

About its staying power, well, it's a bit ok, better than Cover Girl's in fact. But I still don't like it when I apply it to my face. I would rather choose Cover Girl's Translucent Loose Powder over this.

Good thing I didn't buy this. Thanks to my fellow MUAer! :)

Bare Escentuals - Mineral Veil

Posted by Rica at 12:39 AM 0 comments

I bought this product for HKD 190 over Sephora here in Hong Kong. I have this in Completely Sheer. Completely true to its word, it really does gives your makeup extra staying power. This is my very first purchase from Bare Escentuals and yes, I did like it. Actually, I can really proclaim that this is my HG Finishing Powder.

It has a translucent color. I use this after I finish putting on my make-up and yes, it makes my makeup stay longer. It prevents my face from becoming oily (I have a very, very oily skin!) and it doesn't gives me any breakouts. It is also unscented, one feature that I also liked from this powder.

I love, love, LOVE what Bare Escentuals did to its packaging. It is resealable which makes it more sanitized compare to other loose powders out there from other brands. It prevents your powder from spilling all over the lid and controls the amount of loose powder it gives to your brush.

I would repurchase this again and again even though it's quite pricey, but too bad it is only available in Sephora and Sephora's shutting its operations here in Hong Kong this coming March 2010! Ohhhh what to do now?!?!? :(

It has a resealable top, compare to other loose powder brands.

Cover Girl - TruBlend Minerals Loose Powder in 405 Translucent Fair

Posted by Rica at 11:27 PM 0 comments

My sister bought this for me when she went back to Hong Kong for her holidays because we can't purchase CoverGirl locally. I have this in 405 / translucent fair. I know this is very cheap only in U.S.A. and is being sold only in the drugstores back there, but hey, some of their products are not bad at all.

I use this for touch ups and as a finishing everytime I apply my make-up on. I wouldn't say that this is my HG finishing powder because it's just "ok" for me. I would give this product a 2 stars out of 5 for my opinion.

Why?! First of all, let's talk about its packaging. The packaging is very unsanitized, the lid is very easy to break. (I broke mine everytime and it's very messy when carrying it inside your comsetic bag when travelling.) Also, the puff that comes with it is not usable for my experience. Getting the right amount of powder by using this puff is very hard.

About the product itself, it doesn't really have the staying power to prevent my face from getting oily for the whole day. It also has little bits of glitters on the powder itself but it doesn't bother me at all. Anyway, I really need to re-touch everytime when I'm using this powder. Meaning, I took me only around 2 months to finish one 18g product.

I would not repurchase this product from CoverGirl. Oh well, next product for my loose powder please!

Anyway, here are some other photos for your info about this loose powder from Cover Girl.

Yes, it does have a little bit of glitter but it doesn't bother me at all.
